Calibration & checksCan I calibrate my own Brabender?

It depends on your model and what you mean by calibration. Some Brabender instruments have manufacturer-supported checks using reference materials. A performance check is not the same as a full calibration or an adjustment.

Start with the manual for your exact instrument. If it provides a user procedure, check that your team has the training and reference equipment it requires. Send GRS your model and the check you want to perform so we can discuss the appropriate support.

Overhauls & retrofitsCan my Brabender be overhauled?

An overhaul may be an option. GRS can discuss your instrument’s condition and the work you want done; the scope depends on the model, assessment and parts available.

Send the manufacturer, model, serial number, photographs and a description of any faults. Include its service history if you have it. These details help us discuss the next step before you arrange work or transport.

Ask GRS about this
Parts & compatibilityAre parts still available for my old Brabender?

Ask us. GRS has a wide range of parts available, and we can check options for your specific instrument. Availability and fit need to be confirmed for each item.

Send the model, serial number, part number if known, and clear photographs of the component and where it fits. Tell us the quantity you need and your country.

Calibration & checksWhat is the difference between calibration, verification and adjustment?

Calibration establishes how an instrument’s readings relate to reference values, including measurement uncertainty. Verification checks whether specified requirements are met. Adjustment changes the instrument so that it gives the intended indications.

They are different activities. When requesting support, tell us whether you need a routine check, calibration results, an adjustment or evidence that your instrument meets a particular requirement.

Calibration & checksHow often should my instrument be calibrated?

There is no single interval that suits every instrument. Follow the requirements for your model, test method and laboratory quality system. Accuracy needs, the instrument’s stability and its environment also matter.

Keep records of checks, faults and previous calibrations so your laboratory can review its interval. Tell GRS your model and current schedule if you need to discuss service support.

Calibration & checksWhat information should I send for calibration support?

Send the instrument manufacturer, model, serial number, location and the measurements or test method involved. Include the last service or calibration report if available and explain the result or problem you are investigating.

If your laboratory needs a particular certificate, measurement range, uncertainty or accreditation scope, state that in the enquiry so the available service and provider can be checked.

Calibration & checksMy test results have changed. Does the instrument need adjustment?

A change in results alone does not identify the cause. Before changing settings, record what changed: the sample, method, preparation, temperature, instrument setup or recent maintenance. Keep the original results and any comparison data.

Follow your laboratory’s checks and the instrument manual, then send GRS the model, relevant curves or readings and a description of the issue. This gives us a useful starting point for discussing support.

Overhauls & retrofitsWhat is the difference between a retrofit and an overhaul?

A retrofit introduces an upgrade to existing equipment, such as a suitable digital system. An overhaul focuses on the condition of the existing instrument and the work needed to address wear or faults.

Your instrument may need one, both or a different approach. Tell us what works, what does not, and what you want to improve so we can discuss the options.

Overhauls & retrofitsCan I retrofit my old device instead of replacing it?

A compatible retrofit may be an option. GRS offers Digitron as a potential digital upgrade for selected traditional testing systems; it is not assumed to fit every instrument.

Send your manufacturer, model, current recording or control system and photographs. Explain what you need from an upgrade so we can check compatibility before recommending a route.

Ask GRS about this
Overhauls & retrofitsWill Digitron work with my instrument?

Compatibility must be checked against the exact instrument and configuration. The model name alone may not describe previous modifications, accessories or the installed recording system.

Send photographs of the complete instrument, its identification plate and the current system. Include any information about past upgrades.

Overhauls & retrofitsWhat does an overhaul include?

The work is agreed for your instrument after its condition and your requirements are reviewed. Tell us which faults, worn components or performance concerns you want addressed.

Ask for the proposed work, parts, checks and any exclusions to be described in the quote. An overhaul is not automatically a digital retrofit or a calibration service; include those requirements in your enquiry if you need them.

Ask GRS about this
Overhauls & retrofitsHow much will an overhaul cost, and how long will it take?

We need your instrument details and the proposed work before discussing a useful price or schedule. Parts requirements, the extent of the work and the instrument’s location will need to be considered.

Tell us about any production deadline or planned laboratory shutdown. Ask GRS to confirm the scope, estimated timing and transport arrangements with the quotation.

Overhauls & retrofitsShould I repair, upgrade or replace my old instrument?

Start with what your laboratory needs: the test method, useful remaining capability, current condition and the features you are missing. Compare the proposed work and downtime with the requirements for a replacement.

Send us your instrument details and priorities. We can discuss parts, an overhaul, a compatible retrofit or suitable equipment options around your application.

Parts & compatibilityThe manufacturer says a part is no longer available. Can GRS help?

Ask us to check. Send the original part number or description, the instrument model and photographs. If you have the manufacturer’s response, include it so we know which item you have already tried to source.

GRS has a wide range of parts available. We will need to check the individual item and its fit before confirming an option for your machine.

Ask GRS about this
Parts & compatibilityCan you help if I do not know the part number?

Yes—start with clear photographs and the instrument details. Show the whole machine, the component and where it is fitted. Include any markings and dimensions you can read or measure without dismantling the equipment.

Tell us what the part does and why you need to replace it. We can use that information to discuss identification and compatibility.

Ask GRS about this
Parts & compatibilityWill a part from another model fit my machine?

Do not assume that a similar-looking part is interchangeable. Dimensions, connections, materials and the instrument’s configuration need to match the intended use.

Send the details of both the machine and the proposed part. Ask GRS to confirm compatibility before you order or fit it.

Parts & compatibilityAre the parts on the website in stock and ready to ship?

The website shows parts you can enquire about; it is not a live stock list. Ask us to confirm the exact item, quantity, compatibility, availability and delivery estimate for your location.

Include your required date so it can be considered when we discuss the options.
